Refectory and Square
Our refectory at Lady Edith's Drive is the perfect place to relax and unwind, whether you want a quick snack, a healthy lunch or just to catch up with friends. Breakfast is served every weekday from 8.30am until 11am, after this a huge choice foods are available including a range of premium sandwiches, pizzas, salads, paninis, and jacket potatoes. Our two campuses each have their own refectories.
The Square Cat Café at Westwood is a great place to catch–up with friends. We offer hot and cold drinks and snacks. From time–to–time you might even catch a live performance from performing arts students here.
Our Learner Engagement Team also provide other activities across both sites throughout the year.
The learner common room on Lady Edith's Campus is located on the ground floor and near the LRC. Here you can relax with your friends and play a game or pool and our Learner Engagement team are always on hand to help you or provide information on a range of activities they are organising.
ICT, Moodle & Wifi
Recognised nationally as some of the best in the country, our computer suites offer you the chance to gain access to the latest in learning technology. When you join Yorkshire Coast College we will create a moodle account for you. Moodle is our virtual learning environment. Moodle is a web based system that provides you with access to study materials and interactivity with your tutors. Moodle is also used by the entire group to keep our learners up–to–date with everything that is happening on campus and on all our main campuses we offer free wifi to all students.
Throughout your time at Yorkshire Coast College, you will have access to all the facilities and the support you need to help you achieve fantastic results. The College has two well resourced libraries with over 28,000 books across two sites. The Learning Resource Centre also subscribes to over 65 journals and online resources to support your studies. The online resources can be accessed via Moodle, the College's virtual learning environment.
There are more than 200 study places across both campuses, including areas for quiet study and group work.
We have over 100 computers available for your use, including PCs, Windows 7 laptops and Macs. WiFi access is available at both sites for you to use your own laptop. High quality printing and photocopying facilities are provided for student use and all students have individual accounts through the College network for file storage, email and Internet access.
The Careers/Connexions Centre offers a comprehensive collection of careers materials, free access to the British Library loan service ensures that any books currently out of stock, or any archival materials you may require are readily available to support your studies. Inter-site transfers are also available.
Highly qualified LRC Facilitators are happy to advise and assist with any problems you might have, whether it is using resources, accessing academic research, Harvard Referencing, study skills or IT related matters.
