Destinations
The Destinations courses are for learners with moderate learning
difficulties or disabilities (LDD). The new courses are designed to
develop real work skills, enterprise, independent living skills and
personal and social development. We develop your skills from
entry level 1 to entry level 3, preparing you for progression
into work or onto level 1 courses at the college.
Our teachers have extensive experience working with students
who have moderate additional needs. We are equipped to assist
those with disabilities and those who need additional learning
support. However some learners have their own care and
support package when they come to college.
The Destinations courses are really exciting, enabling our students
to study for four full days with an optional fifth day working in
the voluntary sector. The new courses offer real work skills
developed in catering, car washing, horticulture, creative crafts
and social enterprise.
Personal and independent skills are developed through social activities within the community and
days out and about. Healthy living and leisure activities using
our sports centre facilities helps our students to develop
physical skills, co-ordination and team work.
The course offers students vocational placements within
the college, using our excellent facilities such as the kitchens,
workshops and fitness suite. Some students will have the
opportunity for work experience off site, with one of our
valued partners. The two year programme will develop
literacy, numeracy and IT skills to enable students to
progress onto level 1 programmes within college or
to gain meaningful employment.
